About this site

I am fortunate to live within easy driving range of many New Mexico rock art sites.  This has allowed me to revisit the sites easily over the years; each time I do so at different hours of the day and different seasons, I discover new things I had not previously noticed.  Ancient petroglyphs – dimmed by the centuries – are suddenly visible on a cloudy day with reduced contrast.  The setting sun of a winter day reveals some of the magic that inspired the original artist to select a particular location.

This web site is a means for me to share some of the things I have been able to see and to record with my cameras.  I make no claims of authority in doing so; this is just my tribute to the ancient artists who once lived where I live now.

We now live in the City of Albuquerque, so I have lost my close connection to the rock art sites in southern New Mexico. Of course, there are many fine sites in the northern part of the State, and I am enjoying getting to know them.
