Pony Hills

The petroglyphs in the Pony Hills west of Massacre Peak are concentrated near the top of a rocky knoll around small natural water basins in the rocks. One suspects that the people who pecked out the bold designs preferred such places not only for the water found there, but also for the opportunities such terrain provided to hide and escape when needed. The broad, flat grasslands a few miles to south and west had plentiful game, but also were full of dangers and unforgiving of error. It was a place best suited to the fleet and the fierce.
