Although the prototype of Kiev-4 was introduced in early 1951 (source: DVD Technik), the earliest version of particular camera came into the market in 1957. All type-1 cameras have an unique feature - the lightmeter has no  edges of rigidity! The earliest cameras came with 5 or 6 digits serials and double markings "IZGATOVLENO B CCCP/ MADE IN USSR" on the accessory shoe. The latest ones have single markings "SDELANO B CCCP" engraved.

An ultra rare version of the particular camera with ukrainian engravings, instead of regular russian ones! The lightmeter still has no  edges of rigidity! "SDELANO B CCCP" engravings on the accessory shoe. Camera opposite from I.Stolyar (USA) coll.

To commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Soviet Ukraine, Arsenal issued limited quantity of regular Kiev-4 cameras, with commemorative case. The particular case has metal plaque with markings "50 years to Soviet Ukraine". No otherwise different. Case opposite from Ilya Stolyar (USA) coll.
